چکیده

we put forward a new migration imaging technique of Magnetotellurics (MT) data based on improved finite difference method, which increased the accuracy of difference equation and imaging resolution greatly. We also discussed the determination of background resistivity and reimaging. The processing results of theoretical model and case study indicated that this method was a more practical and effective for MT imaging. Finally the characteristics of finite difference migration imaging were summarized and the factors which can affect the migration imaging were analyzed.

MT+, Integrating Magnetotellurics to Determine Earth Structure, Physical State, and Processes

As one of the few deep-earth imaging techniques, magnetotellurics provides information on both the structure and physical state of the crust and upper mantle. Magnetotellurics is sensitive to electrical conductivity, which varies within the earth by many orders of magnitude and is modified by a range of earth processes. As with all geophysical techniques, magnetotellurics has a non-unique inver...

Compensating finite-difference errors in 3-D migration and modelingZhiming Li

One-pass three-dimensional (3-D) depth migration potentially offers more accurate imaging results than does conventional two-pass 3-D migration for variable velocity media. Conventional one-pass 3-D migration, using the method of finite-difference inline and crossline splitting, however, creates large errors in the image of complex structures. These errors are due to paraxial wave-equation appr...

Adaptive finite difference for seismic wavefield modelling in acoustic media

Efficient numerical seismic wavefield modelling is a key component of modern seismic imaging techniques, such as reverse-time migration and full-waveform inversion. Finite difference methods are perhaps the most widely used numerical approach for forward modelling, and here we introduce a novel scheme for implementing finite difference by introducing a time-to-space wavelet mapping. Finite diff...

Frequency domain 3-D electromagnetic migration and imaging of sea-bottom geoelec- trical structures

In this paper we develop a fast 3-D electromagnetic (EM) migration method for marine geophysical exploration. The developed migration algorithm is based on downward extrapolation of the observed EM field using a special form of finite-difference equation for the migration field. It allows us to migrate within the sea-bottom formations the EM signals observed by the sea-bottom receivers. The mig...
